Written In Red - Anne Bishop

I...this book confuses me. Like, there's things about it that are really annoying me, but I'm enjoying it at the same time?

For example, the huge "special snowflake" banner that seems to hover above Meg, and the fact that it's way overly descriptive and keeps getting caught up in the minutiae of everyday things. I don't need to know that Simon hung the towel on a peg near the back door when he went to fix Sam and himself dinner. Unless the towel peg near the back door is an important plot point later on?

And yet...I can't stop reading it. *sigh*
